A fun collaboration with my favorite sister...

As many of you know, my sister and I share a fondness for paper crafting.  We have worked and supported each others' efforts for over three years now.  We were talking one day and realized that if we joined forces it would give us another excuse to talk for hours each day. :-)  That is exactly what we decided to do.

We have been busy preparing our first ever precut paper kit and cutting guide using the fun and vibrant City Sidewalks paper pack.  I loved this paper the minute I saw it in our catalog release at convention.

Our kit is ready for purchase and it includes two full size greeting cards and three tags.  As well as a full City Sidewalks Complement Set (retail value: $6.95).   All you have to supply is the time to craft and your favorite adhesive.  The cost for each kit is $20.00 plus shipping/handling.

If you are a consultant with Close to My Heart or just have an inventory of products, we also have an option for those who have their own paper, stamps and embellishments. You can purchase a cutting guide without duplicating your craft supplies.  The cost for just the cutting guide is $8.00 and it will be emailed immediately after purchase.

You can purchase your kit at our Facebook group page-Sisters with Heart. We have limited inventory for each precut project kit so don't wait too long or you might miss out.  The holidays are so busy and this is a perfect way to continue the fun of crafting on your own or with a group of friends.

Happy Crafting!

Fall Inspiration using Swan Lake

Are you struggling to let summer go?  In denial that school is in full swing and after school activities have filled up your calendar?  Or are you excited for the cooler temperatures and ready to be back into a routine?

If I had to answer that question, I would have to say I am some where in between.  I am excited for the cooler weather, but I guess I am just not ready to say goodbye to the unhurried feeling of summer. I have been working on a few Fall projects in hopes that I can turn the corner and leave summer behind.

If you are struggling to let the carefree days of summer go--hopefully, you will find some Fall crafting inspiration with these simple projects using one of our new paper collections called Swan Lake.  If this doesn't do it, I bet a Pumpkin Spice flavored something or another would do the trick.

Happy Fall to all of my crafting friends!!

Jeepers Creepers Sugar Skull Halloween Wreath

A couple of months ago, our corporate office came up with a cute wreath idea using the Georgie paper collection.  I decided to change it up a little bit and use our Halloween inspired collection called Jeepers Creepers.

The project was made up of of 2" X 12" paper strips that wrapped around a floral wreath base.  Each end of the strip was dove tailed.  The sugar skull was cut at 8" on my Cricut using our brand new CTMH Cricut cartridge Flower Market.  The flowers were also cut on the Cricut using the same cartridge.

Jeepers Creepers Washi Tape Candy Gift Jar

It is that time of year again.  School started back last week and I can feel the end of summer looming. Fall is on the way!  Football, Halloween, cooler weather, warmer clothes and many nights snuggled up with a great cup of tea by the fire. It is funny how I am always ready for Fall when it comes. Summer is fun, but the excitement of planning for the holidays is something I always enjoy.

Are you looking for a quick Halloween gift for someone in your life?  This project took me about 15 minutes to put together and as a bonus I bet you have some glass jars hanging around your craft room just waiting to be used.

I used the Washi Tape and Complement Assortment from Close to My Heart's new paper collection called Jeepers Creepers.  The jar is filled with those cute little "candy corn" pumpkins that are so popular this time of year.

Our Holiday Expressions Catalog is HERE!!

My family headed to Maui for our big summer trip this year.  We spent two glorious weeks playing at the beach and enjoying all of the beauty of island.  My day would typically start with packing up a lunch and then heading to the beach for a day full of sun/fun.  My daughter loved snorkeling and hunting for the rare sea shell on the bottom of the ocean.  Between that and playing in the sand she was set.

I on the other hand--slathered up with sunscreen and sat under my magnificent umbrella in my comfy beach chair.  I had a lot of time to reflect on the year and plan for the upcoming year.

One of the things that kept me busy was looking through our new Holiday Expressions catalog. There are so many great projects and inspiration packed into this little catalog.  If you are looking for some holiday inspiration, please send me a message and I will mail a catalog out to you.

I hope you and your family had a summer full of fun and made some great memories!

A little "Magical" for the most Magical place on Earth

This year's Close to My Heart annual convention was held at Coronado Resort at Walt Disney World. What a wonderful venue!  Can you imagine the excitement we all felt to be paper crafting at the happiest place on earth?  I was counting down the days to convention all year long.  It didn't disappoint either.  More on that later.

Each year at convention, consultants swap projects with other consultants.  It is called a Swap and it is one of my favorite things to do at convention.  Before CTMH opens the doors to the day's activities, consultants group together and trade projects with each other.  It is a great ice breaker and a fun way to see how others make use of our products.

This year I decided to make little chocolate and tea treat holders.  I was able to make about 44 swaps for the event.  I probably could have made more if I had stuck with one theme, but I wanted to mix it up with our different paper packs and product.  I realized this was a good thing because when consultants looked at my swaps--they definitely knew exactly one they wanted. I had Disney themed, flamingos, Ocean themed, travel and a few others.

These gift holders are very quick and easy to make.  I have made a quick "how to" video to show how quick and easy they really do come together.

Quick note:  The tea bag/chocolate holder that has three holders are just attached using adhesive. Nothing difficult about that!  These were special for a couple of people that continue to support me with all things Close to My Heart.

2016 Close to My Heart Scrapbook Layout Contest

The 2016 CTMH convention this year is at Walt Disney World and it is just two weeks away. This will be my third time attending and it is really one of my favorite times of the year. Reconnecting with paper crafting friends, spending quality time with my sister, looking at all of the new product and drooling over all of the beautifully designed consultant artwork.
This year I decided to enter the scrapbook layout contest. The theme of convention is from the movie "Inside Out" and the instructions were to scrap about a "core" memory.
I chose my daughter's first trip to Disneyland. If you know anything about me/my family--we LOVE Disney! David and I couldn't wait to share Disney with our daughter, Sophia. This will ALWAYS be one of my happy core memories! I can't post my whole layout here(it is a contest and there are some cool prizes on the line), but here is a sneak peek of my page. I will share my two page layout after I get home from convention.

Two Quick "Masculine" Thank You Card Ideas

On Saturday, my daughter had her end of the year soccer party.  I volunteered to put together the thank you gifts for the coaches.

I have to admit that I struggle with masculine cards.  My creative mind has a hard time going there. I am working on it though.

When I started working on the cards, I hadn't cleaned up my workspace from working with the Fundamental paper line.  I decided I to play with the bits and pieces that were already cut out and try to make them work.  That is exactly what I did for these two cards.  I used my scraps to put together the card faces and used the Close to My Heart Card and Envelope Value Pack for the bases.

I used the CTMH Doodled Design stamp set.

May's Stamp of the Month~Celebrate with Cake

When I saw May's Stamp of the Month, it took me right back to my cake days.   Before I started paper crafting, I owned my own speciality cake business.  The name of my company was "Celebrate with Cake". My weeks and weekends were filled with coming up with designs, implementing my ideas and delivering cakes.  It was messy, stressful, and demanding, but so rewarding when my customer was happy with the end result.

(That's me--three students from the left-behind the breadsticks)

After thinking about it for a minute, I realized the two businesses have quite a few things in common. Nowadays you will most likely find me holding an adhesive runner rather than a pastry bag and my fingers are now stained with stamping ink opposed to food coloring.   The one thing they do have in common is tapping into my creative side and that is what makes me happy.

I enjoyed creating a cake out of paper using our Fundamentals paper line.

Don't wait too long,  May's Stamp of the Month is only available through the end of the month.

Georgie Collection

The Georgie paper line has baby written all over it.  The catalog shows artwork for babies and the muted tones really work well for artwork that you are creating for a young child.

I had in my mind that I would try to do something different with the paper to show the versatility, but in the end I created items geared towards a baby.  Oh well!  Why fight it--it is the perfect combination of cuteness, sweetness and fun all designed with a snuggly baby in mind.  I did slip in a Mother's Day card using the paper line just to show you that it could be done. :-)

Artiste Box Purse

I needed a quick gift card holder for my daughter's teacher and I decided to try one of the gift box purses out.  The Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut cartridge made very quick work out of this project. It is a cute way to give someone money, a gift card. or candy.  You can adjust the size to whatever you need!

Directions:

Artiste Cartridge Page 57 3D Object cut at 2.5"
Oval Shape on Page 36 cut at 1.5"
Purse "strap" 5/8"X 6"

This project would work with any of our paper lines.  I chose to use Regatta and the matching complements.
